Carnaval. El Comercio estimula su celebración, como aliciente. Un aliciente que, aunque pequeño, sirva para animar la parsimonia del flujo comprador; para superar, aunque sólo sea temporalmente, el ambiente de atonía derivado del bolsillo y para alegrar el aspecto de nuestras calles.
A su reclamo, no falta respuesta: de madres ilusionadas por disfrazar a sus niños; de gente joven dispuesta a disfrutarlo en solitario o en grupo y de alguna, más mayor, que bajo el disfraz, se dispone a hacer durante unas horas, lo que desearía en distintos momentos del año.
Sin duda, lo más importante del Carnaval es el disfraz, que puede ser de lo más imaginativo, pintoresco, o estrafalario…
Dejando a un lado el de los niños,- que todos estrenan ilusionados y que algunos acaban detestando por el cansancio por les produce su agobio -, el disfraz de los mayores es cosa diferente.
No es sólo el “escondite” en el se ocultan sus portadores: bajo él, y entre sus pliegues y costuras, quedan enredados y aparcados durante el tiempo que dura la farsa, miedos y timideces; deseos habitualmente controlados; ilusiones imposibles… Es la oportunidad que da el momento a su portador, para ser lo que se desearía ser, sin ser conocido; para, recuperada la libertad perdida, hacer y decir lo que, habitualmente desearía, o para ridiculizar aquello que, a cara descubierta, no se atrevería… Pero, fundamentalmente, el disfraz y con él, el Carnaval entero, es un engaño.
¡Menos mal que es temporal! . Por serlo y, sobre todo, por saberlo, se acepta.
Contra esta temporalidad y para prevenirnos, hay un refrán castellano, que, como todos, recoge la sabiduría popular adquirida a través de la experiencia. Es el que dice y nos recuerda que: “En todo tiempo es Carnaval”, que es tanto como decir que en todo tiempo hay gente “listilla” que engaña, que vive situaciones por encima de sus posibilidades, en posiciones que les rebasan, y que, faltos de cualquier soporte, no moral, sino ético, las mantienen y sustentan, a costa de lo que sea, agazapados tras el engaño.
La diferencia entre ambos Carnavales, no es sólo cuestión de tiempo, la diferencia está fundamentalmente, en la forma de engañar o en la pretensión de hacerlo: en el carnaval de “todo tiempo”, el engaño se hace, sin disfraz, “a cara descubierta” y, además, negándolo.
No es necesario esforzarse para encontrar ejemplos que ilustren esta forma de hacer. Ahora hay suficientes comportamientos que hacen de este mundo y de nuestra sociedad, un carnaval permanente. Lo peor es que el resto del personal, alucinado por el perjuicio de tanto embuste egoísta, está en este carnaval, de momento, fuera de juego y sin capacidad de reacción.
Para recuperarla y a falta de árbitro que, como en el fútbol, reanudase el juego, podría valer otro refrán: “Más vale tarde que nunca”. O cualquier otro, porque la experiencia tiene muchos acuñados, que valdrían para el momento.
